SUPPLY CHAIN BUSINESS DIRECTOR 

The core of this role is moving the business from having what has traditionally been a Defensive Procurement Function, to an Offensive, Strategically lead one. 
 
This is very much a Business Partner lead idea, working with Categories and Collaborative thinking, removing silo mentality and moving to a commercial, centrally lead business; a move from analogue to digital. 
 
The role will be a No.2 to the Director with a fast track succession plan to move into his role - freeing him up for new projects with the CPO. 
 
You will be required to Manage the Procurement Executives within the Procurement Operations team to support and improve their performance providing guidance, direction, mentoring and support. 
 
The role works with the Strategic Procurement team to support all Business Units and Functional Leads, delivering identified procurement strategies, to achieve Exceptional Value, Every Day. 
 
This means: 
• Leading a team of Procurement Executives in line with people management requirements and the overall plans for Procurement, as agreed with the Procurement Operations Manager 
• Ensuring supply chain solutions are fit for purpose, aligned to business need and represent lowest total cost, best service, highest quality, ethical & sustainable supply with relevant impactful supply base innovation 
• Conduct rigorous professional sourcing activity, manage data integrity, support and conduct Supplier Relationship Management, undertake bid support and carry out contract mobilisation 
• Work closely with key stakeholders, especially the Strategic Procurement Managers to align procurement plans & delivery with the business requirements they have identified 
• Implement the defined processes and ways of working across six strategic priorities of People, Cost, Technology, Customer, Process & Suppliers 
• Conduct benchmarking, price reviews, market intelligence and supplier audits for procurement 
• Develop own capabilities in line with the requirements of the Procurement Academy and act as a role model for Procurement Executives

Day to day application so internal provision maximised in appropriate categories 
Demonstrable application of agreed procurement policies, procedures and approach, using agreed technology, highlighting improvement areas and potential fixes through the Solutions Forum 
An outstanding service provided to all Procurement, Functional leads and BU stakeholders 
Manage and develop direct reports to ensure excellent engagement and outstanding capability, with the team following agreed procurement approaches, technology and processes 
Learn the skills, develop the competencies and build knowledge to act as a foundation for future development within procurement, whilst making a tangible impact on performance. 

Education & Experience: 

Essential: 
Educated to degree level or equivalent professional experience / qualifications 
Experience of managing staff and teams to achieve business outcomes 
A track record in operational procurement delivery supporting a wider, dispersed team 
First class interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills 
Able to demonstrate the ability to influence, challenge and negotiate with wide range of knowledgeable clients, suppliers and colleagues 
Knowledge of sourcing methodologies, SRM, contracting & negotiation 
Hands on experience of delivering bottom line cost savings in a complex environment 
 
Desirable 
Business or management qualifications 
Previously involved in major transformation and change programmes within Procurement 
Good understanding of category management
