Job of The Week - Director of Procurement
This is a high-impact leadership role within a leading international service provider. The position is challenging, varied, and continually evolving, offering the chance to shape and deliver a global procurement strategy while driving performance improvements across key product and service suppliers.
Initially home-based, you’ll travel to offices across the UK and work closely with stakeholders across all business areas. As a member of the Group Procurement Core Team and Group-wide Procurement Excellence Committee, you’ll play a pivotal role in strategy, decision-making, and driving operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
Lead the Group Indirect Procurement function to deliver the global strategy, improving supplier performance and cost efficiency.
Assume leadership of current group-based indirect procurement teams, plus direct management of procurement personnel in multiple business sectors.
Create and develop a Global Indirect Category team to optimise supplier performance and deliver sustainable cost savings.
Implement a best-in-class category management approach to align supply chain strategies with current and future business needs.
Operational Excellence
Leverage global spend wherever possible, ensuring no compromise on quality.
Collaborate with functional and business leaders to understand and meet customer requirements.
Drive automation and more efficient ways of working.
Engage with suppliers to foster innovation and continuous improvement.
Support cost-saving initiatives across the wider business.
Cross-Functional Influence
Act as a strategic business partner to functions such as IT, HR, and Marketing.
Review and assess in-house vs outsourced opportunities.
Influence group-wide procurement strategy at the highest level.
What We’re Looking For
Degree educated (or equivalent).
10+ years’ experience in a large international corporate environment.
Proven stakeholder management skills, internally and externally.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Background in a fast-paced, high-criticality services sector, or exposure to Manufacturing, Engineering, or Defence industries.
Demonstrated success in supplier performance improvement strategies.
Broad knowledge of indirect spend categories.
Professional procurement accreditation (e.g. CIPS).
